Dear Parents
On behalf of the Verulam School PTA I am delighted to have this opportunity to welcome you and your son to Verulam. I hope that you will have a long and successful relationship with the school and I look forward to meeting you personally at the PTA events.
At the beginning of September there will be a cheese and wine party. This will be held on in the Maths Block, where Year 7 boys will have their form rooms. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet not only other parents of Year 7 boys and members of the PTA committee, but also get to know the Year 7 tutors. You will also find out more about the PTA activities. We will send details nearer the time please watch out for Boy Post and look for details in the Verulam Voice.
You will have the opportunity to purchase second hand school uniform (and in due course to donate uniform) at the PTA uniform exchange which takes place twice a term in the Dining Hall on the first Saturday morning after a main holiday or half-term holiday. Many parents have found this of value in reducing the costs of purchasing uniform.
Other PTA events will be held throughout the year and are likely to include: Wine/Beer tasting evening, Quiz Nights, Concert, Ladies Pamper Evening, Football Competition and the PTA party and AGM. Our two major events are the Christmas Craft Fair and the Summer Ball which together raise about half of our annual total and are very well supported.
Details of all these events will be published on our website, www.verulampta.org.uk, along with other information and forms as well as the contacts for the PTA committee. Announcements are issued to the boys and will appear in the Verulam Voice. We increasingly wish to use e-mail to establish contact with parents and you will be contacted separately to give your e-mail address and permission for us to send you e-mails. You will also be invited to join our 200 Club or make a regular donation through Gift Aid.
PTA fund raising makes a significant contribution to the school providing facilities that would not exist otherwise.
The PTA is a vital part of school life, yes, there is fundraising, but there is also fun along with the opportunities to meet other parents and staff. Through our meetings and activities we learn more about school life, about, what why and how the school is changing, as well as having formal and informal platforms to have an input to school life.
Yours sincerely
Lesley Reardon
Chairman
